How old do you have to be to play?

The mininum age to play in the LHL is 35 years old (turning 35 during the year qualifies). *There are some players that have been grandfathered in from previous sessions when numbers were low and teams needed to be filled.

What is the average age of an LHL player?

The average age is 45 years old.

What is the skill level like?

We aim for the skill level to be a combination of Hockey Finders’s Wednesday Night League (2-4) and MCHL’s Intermediate (A/B), as for any league; there are always a few outliers.

How do I know if I’m a fit for the LHL?

Come watch a game and see for yourself. If you played Professional, Semi Professional, Division I, Division II, Division III, Any Juniors Tier, ACHA or College Club Hockey and below the age of 55 then this league is not a fit. If you are not sure, just email us.

How many games in a season?

The LHL has 2 season’s; Winter session and Summer session. The Winter session consists of anywhere between 22-25 games and an end of season double elimination tournament. The summer session consists of a 15-18 games and also ends with a double elimination tournament. It all depends on the amount of ice time available from the arena.

Is the LHL a no contact league?

Yes, The LHL has a zero tolerance policy for any rough or edgy play. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.

Where are games played?

LHL games are played at First Liberty Credit Union (fka Ralston Arena) for Winter session and Moylan IcePlex for Summer session.

What are the days and times of games?

All LHL games are played on Thursday evenings at 7:00P, 8:15P and 9:30P, there are no weekend games.

How are teams created?

Players are divided into 4 groups based on skill level (A,B,C and D). Each captain will draft round by round from the first group until all players have been drafted before moving on to the next group. This will help keep teams as close to balanced as possible.

Can I request to play with a friend?

Yes. The maximum group size for requesting a go along is 2 players . All players must be registered for the upcoming season in order to make the request. There will not be the option for multiple player go along requests, the requests will only be honored in pairs. The request must be reciprocal. Goalies and Captains can not be requested as teammates.

13 skaters and 1 goalie.

How many teams are in the LHL?

6.

​Do i need to buy jerseys?

Jerseys are included in the registration fee as a 1st time player. Once jerseys are purchased there is no need to purchase jerseys again unless you choose.

How do I become a substitute skater?

We only allow players who have played in the LHL and own LHL jerseys to be substitute skaters.
